From ADD to more focus than ever
Anthony had the ambition to play a larger role in the internationally operating family business. He wanted to be able to lead and perhaps even grow. Not to be the 'daddy's boy', but to make a real contribution in his own way. He wanted the long-serving employees to accept and respect him as the new, young 'boss'.
This was his challenge. He wanted to be mentally ready for it.
ADD & Business
I got to know Anthony as a ball of energy who jumped from one topic to another, couldn't really listen, and had very little focus.
At school, he was given the well-known ADD label, and he also experienced that lack of concentration.
He wanted to do something about it, because as a manager, you need to be 'awake' during important negotiations or meetings. The lack of focus and that label made him afraid to lead important meetings.
I once told David that I think they should make Mental Coaching compulsory in schools. Once you understand how your brain works, a whole new world opens up for you. Anthony Hendrickx
When people think less, they realize their own worth more.
I showed Anthony that he was thinking too much without realizing it, and the impact this had on his body and on his life. I taught him to think less and to 'see' more, to be present.
We discussed where thoughts come from and how to change them. And through targeted concentration exercises, we installed inner peace in his subconscious.
Became more aware through Mental Training
Anthony was skeptical about the Mental Training (concentration exercises). But after a few sessions, he felt the difference in his body and mind between thinking a lot and not thinking much. He experienced what it was like to have more focus and be inwardly calm in the same daily life. He began to become more aware of what was really happening around him, but also within himself. He perceived his thought processes as a distraction and saw more possibilities everywhere. He also began to realize more of the qualities he already possessed, and as a result, his self-respect and his belief in his ability to lead the family business to a bright future increased.
Today, Anthony is much less concerned with other people's opinions and with his possible, fictitious shortcomings. He is calmer, more consciously present, more mature, and stronger. He has a greater awareness of and confidence in his abilities. He is ready for the next step.
